Body Confidence on the Beach
With summer swiftly approaching, it's time to swim for a lot of the world! Sadly, the harsh and unattainable body standards that are pushed on us by society and the media cause a lot of us to feel very self concious when swimming or at the beach. Here are a few ways to help yourself feel more comfortable!
Choose a swimsuit that YOU feel good in!
When looking for a new swimsuit, make sure you find one that you really like. One piece, two piece, board shorts, or paired with a matching cover up - if you feel good in it, then you'll feel more confident on the beach! If you're going shopping with friends, choose people who you know will be positive about your body and YOUR swimsuit choice. Remember - it's about what YOU like, not what others would like or dislike on you!Swim with good friends!
When you're at the beach, make sure you go with people who talk positively about a wide variety of body types. Gossiping about how others look ultimately just makes you feel worse about yourself! If you and your friends focus on having fun instead of what people look like, you'll gain confidence instead of feeling uncomfortable.Remember...
As awful as feeling self concious might feel, it can be helpful to remember that far less people are looking at you than you might think. It really is true that people are generally focused on themselves, and experiencing the same worries as you are! If you keep reminding yourself of this fact, it can be easier to take your mind off how you look and put your thoughts and effort into having fun.How do you help yourself feel body confident on the beach?
